About Maureen
Let me tell you a little bit about myself…
Family and Career
I was the third daughter born to an Italian immigrant mother and a 2nd generation Irish-American father. My dad was an auto mechanic and my mom worked at a local bakery a couple of days a week to help make ends meet. My Italian grandparents lived with us in our home in Woodside, Queens.
I married the love of my life in 1987. We have three amazing children, all adults now. I worked for the NYC government in various positions of increasing responsibility. When my third child was born, like so many women, I left my job to be a stay-at-home mom. Going from two salaries to one, with three children and a mortgage, I learned how to balance a budget, stretch a dollar and still make sure our family lived well. That’s when I really learned about fiscal responsibility! When my youngest went to kindergarten I got a job teaching at a local Catholic school. We moved to Kent in 2002 where I quickly worked towards my qualifications for two teaching certificates and began to substitute in the Carmel Central Schools. After doing so for a number of years, I went into private law practice. In 2013, I ran for the office of Town Supervisor in Kent and was elected. I was subsequently re-elected three times. After serving four terms, term limits ended my tenure.

Kent Town Supervisor
I served as Town Supervisor of the Town of Kent for eight years from 2014 through 2021. I left that position due to term limits. During my tenure as Supervisor, I was able to work successfully with four Board members from another political party to get things done.
Some of the accomplishments I considered most important were:
- Opened all meetings to residents to make unrestricted comments on all topics.
- Improved Highway Department, Parks and Recreation Department, Lake Carmel Sanitation and Lake Carmel Park District facilities.
- Purchased vehicles, which improved our crumbling Highway Department and Lake Carmel Sanitation Department fleets, as well replacing Police and Recreation
Department vehicles. - Revamped our Town website to make it more user friendly.
- Modernized the way departments did business allowing residents to interact online and pay fees without coming into the offices.
- Built the first all-abilities playground in Putnam County on the grounds of Town Hall
- Increased programs and events for our residents such as the Winter Festival, the Backyard Olympics, Kent Community Weekend.
- Procured substantial grants for the community.
I accomplished all this without raising Town of Kent taxes for all my eight years in office!
